Saw Mill Capital Expands Research Capabilities and Announces Promotion

October 18, 2016 – Briarcliff Manor, New York – Chris Longiaru has joined Saw Mill Capital as Vice President of Research. He joins as the second member of the Saw Mill investment team whose responsibilities are principally focused on industry research, augmenting Victor Krupinski, Director of Research, who has led Saw Mill’s research efforts since 1997.

Mr. Longiaru joins Saw Mill following 11 years as an equity research analyst at Sidoti & Company, where he most recently covered small capitalization technology companies. Before his years in equity research, he worked for Wachovia Securities and Smith Barney managing Taft Hartley assets. “I was attracted to Saw Mill’s differentiated approach to investing, and I am excited to join the team and leverage my expertise in a private equity setting,” said Mr. Longiaru.

“In-house research is a unique capability in lower middle-market private equity investing,” commented Tim Nelson, a Partner at Saw Mill. “Industry and business due diligence are inextricable. To understand the market landscape of a new investment opportunity, we perform primary research early in our evaluation process. As a result, we identify trends quickly, and we often uncover growth opportunities that others overlook.” Mr. Krupinski added, “Many of our businesses participate in niche markets for which there are no readily available in-depth studies or reports. Our comprehensive approach is not only critical to our pre-closing due diligence, but also makes us a better strategic partner to our portfolio company managers.”

Saw Mill also recently promoted Chris Wells to Senior Associate. As a member of the investment team, Mr. Wells had been an Associate at Saw Mill since 2014 following several years of experience in investment banking. In his expanded role Mr. Wells supports new investment evaluation and monitoring of portfolio companies, including Gateway Packaging Company, Janus International Group, Victory Energy Operations, and Wolf-Gordon.
